The Biggest Myth About a Good Communications Strategy

I was recently asked: What’s the greatest myth about what makes a good communications strategy?

Without hesitation, my answer was this:

👉 That a good communications strategy is simply about telling people what you want them to know.

If you are just pushing words at people, you are NOT communicating.

Real communication is a two-way street. It’s about alignment, action, and authenticity. The best strategies don’t just broadcast—they connect.

What makes a great communications strategy?

Listening first—and listening often. Your audience’s realities, concerns, and ideas should shape how you communicate.👂

Aligning communication with a clear purpose. Every message should drive people to think, feel, or act in a specific way. 🎯

Using words with intention. Every statement should articulate an actual action—not just sound good. 🔨

Speaking with an authentic voice. If your messaging doesn’t sound real, it won’t resonate. 👄

A strong communications strategy doesn’t just serve your needs: it ensures that both you and your audience achieve what’s possible together.

Are you communicating or just talking?

Let’s make sure your strategy gets results.
